MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Honours Degree in Office Management/Business Administration
- Preference will be given to candidates with a Master’s Degree or Doctorate
- Seven (7) years of administrative experience, with three (3) years of supervisory experience in a higher education environment.
KNOWLEDGE AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- A commanding knowledge of the student information management system and sound knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (preference will be given to people with ITS and Oracle PeopleSoft experience).
- The ability to lead and supervise staff through processes such as registration, graduation, curriculum matters and other ITS and Oracle PeopleSoft-related functions (good interpersonal and communication skills, planning and organisational skills with special emphasis on student-centeredness
- Understanding of academic administration in the Higher Education environment (Higher Education Act/Statute/Rules SAQA, NQF and HEQSF
- The ability to record, document and report on proceedings at various platforms (Faculty Board, EXCO, Faculty Research Committees)
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
- General management of the Faculty administration and ensuring strong systems are in place with heads of departments.
- Manage administration procedures and processes for the admission of new students
- Manage the maintenance of student records for the Faculty
- Ensures that faculty members and students comply with university policies and procedures.
- Plays a key role in enrolment across all programmes in the faculty
- Manage the administrative aspects of the Faculty examinations
- Oversee qualifications processing
- Establish and implement administrative procedures for managing research activities within the Faculty.
- Manage relationships with, and regularly assess the needs and views of core customers in the DUT/section to improve the quality and effectiveness of services
- Contribute to efforts to improve the quality of teaching, research, and service within the faculty.
- Coordinate faculty awards events
