The KovsieFootball Men's Head Coach must be able to combine their passion and understanding of men's football, sports, and wellness with the practical business activities of KovsieSport and other associated organisations. Preference will be given to the candidates from the designated group, specifically males. The KovsieFootball Men's Head Coach is responsible for the daily functioning of the UFS Men's football program which includes planning, organising, instructing, directing, and managing a program exemplified by integrity and professionalism. He must share in the team's mission, ambition and culture while actively contributing positively to the club's organisational goals. The successful candidate must enjoy working in an interactive diverse environment, that is challenging and professional, while always positively projecting and promoting KovsieSport and the UFS, and KovsieFootball visions.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Plan, organise, lead and direct the KovsieFootball Men's program.
• Coach and attend all/most team matches (Preseason, Regular Season, Playoffs, USSA and Varsity Football, exhibition matches, etc).
• Organise and conduct practice sessions to teach sport fundamentals and skills, game strategies, performance principles and the proper use of sports and training equipment to enhance the UFS Football Coaching philosophy.
• Provide instruction in physical conditioning and technical periodisation that will enable student athletes to achieve maximum performance.
• Serve as an educational practitioner promoting psychological, social mental and the soft skills needed for student athletes to succeed academically and on the field.
• Create and foster purposeful professional relationships with each student athlete to maximise their contributions to the team as players and holistic development.
• Implement and conduct a comprehensive plan on game days.
• Provide weekly/monthly progress reports.
• Oversee scouting of opponents (watching games, creating applicable reports and presenting data and details)
• Develop and administer a complete recruiting plan while guiding and training all staff in the scouting methodology the UFS will use to inform acquisition opportunities, team roster management and development opportunities.
• Supervise assistant coaches, team managers and student volunteers.
• Responsible for interviewing, training, assigning and directing work, as well as appraising performance of athletes and staff, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Represent the organisation at various networking events and off-site community events.
• Demonstrate and model sportsmanship and ethical conduct consistent with the mission of UFS, KovsieSport and KovsieFootball.
Inherent requirements:
• Grade 12 on NQF level 5.
• Football Coaching Qualification CAF B licence (attach a copy).
• Minimum of five (5) years’ Head Coaching experience coaching men's football.
• Three (3) years’ playing experience (University/ Professional/National team).
• Valid Driver's License (attach a copy).
• Safeguarding Certificate (attach a copy).
Recommendations:
• A qualification on NQF level 7.
• Additional Coaching Positions occupied within Football Federations.
• Experience working within the Higher Education environment.
• Knowledge of university systems, policies and procedures.
• Bilingual.
• Good communication skills, verbal and written.
• Ability to deliver knowledge to and instruct student athletes in an effective manner.
• Effective conflict resolution skills.
