Description:
My client a manufacturer and distributor of automotive batteries, is looking for a qualified Millwright in Port Elizabeth.- The ideal person will report to the Line Manager. This person is to conduct both electrical and mechanical inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance on engineering equipment in order to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. Department: Manufacturing – Factory.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 / Matric (NQF Level 4)
- Trade Test: Millwright (NQF Level 5)
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in technical, electrical, and mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
- Basic computer literacy (MS Office, SAP, ERP systems)
- Strong knowledge of maintenance methodologies, SOPs, and equipment standards
- Understanding of housekeeping and safety principles
- Proactive and action-oriented
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Flexible and adaptable under pressure
- Well-organized with good planning ability
- Customer-focused and resilient
- Clear communicator (verbal and written)
Engineering & Maintenance Control (65%):
- Diagnose root causes of equipment failure and perform timely repairs.
- Minimize equipment downtime and reduce damage through swift fault rectification.
- Apply engineering best practices and ensure all equipment meets operational requirements.
- Conduct routine and "first-off" inspections on machinery to detect faults or excessive wear.
- Liaise with production teams to proactively identify and resolve process-related issues.
- Execute preventative maintenance and coordinate availability of necessary parts.
- Ensure all manufactured products meet quality standards and compile relevant reports.
- Operate within company procedures to uphold compliance and integrity.
- Report risks or non-compliance issues to management.
- Promote adherence to applicable health, safety, and company-specific regulations.
- Use financial and physical resources effectively and transparently.
- Monitor and manage costs, report any deviations from budget.
- Minimize waste and avoid fruitless or irregular expenditure.
- Foster productive working relationships with colleagues and internal stakeholders.
- Resolve technical and process issues efficiently and with integrity.
- Maintain a high level of service delivery aligned with company values.
