My client a manufacturer and distributor of automotive batteries, is looking for a qualified Batter Quality Inspector for their Elandsfontein, Gauteng facility. (45-hour work week) – Benefits includes retirement fund contributions
  • The
Battery Quality Inspector is responsible for performing detailed inspections on batteries to ensure they meet quality and safety standards before distribution. This role is hands-on and physically demanding, requiring high attention to detail, excellent visual acuity, and the ability to work with both manual and computer-based tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Measure Open Circuit Voltage (OCV) of batteries using a voltmeter.
  • Inspect battery skewness and verify correct labelling as per master reference.
  • Check the condition of battery terminals for defects or irregularities.
  • Identify and interpret engraved codes on battery casings.
  • Manually handle and lift batteries weighing between 15–20 kg.
  • Compile inspection reports and maintain accurate spreadsheets and data logs.
  • Conduct basic data analysis to identify trends or anomalies.
  • Ensure batteries comply with defined quality standards before release.
Requirements:
  • Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Science.
  • N3 or N6 in Electrical or Chemical Studies advantageous.
  • Equivalent tertiary qualifications also considered.
  • Minimum 3 years in a quality inspection or quality testing environment, preferably within manufacturing.
  • Computer literate with the ability to compile reports and manage spreadsheets.
  • Basic understanding of quality control principles and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with quality inspection tools and techniques.
  • Ability to manually lift and move heavy items (15–20 kg).
  • Excellent eyesight and attention to detail are essential.
  • Fluent in English; strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable communicating across various business levels.
  • Must have own transport and a valid driver’s license.
  • Candidates over the age of 30 are preferred due to the physical nature and responsibilities of the role.
Note:
This position falls under MIBCO Grade 7 and offers a competitive hourly wage along with retirement funding. The role requires a hands-on individual with strong observational skills and a passion for quality assurance.
