Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Midrand has an opportunity available for a Paralegal Lease Administrator. To provide both legal and administrative support to leasing and property management teams. The role involves
drafting, reviewing, and managing lease agreements while ensuring compliance with South African property,
commercial, and pharmacy-related laws. Maintain accurate legal documentation, supporting regulatory filings,
and liaising with landlords, tenants, and legal professionals to ensure smooth lease execution and alignment
with the employer’s leasing mandates.
Minimum Requirements…
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Certificate or Diploma in Paralegal or related field
- Minimum of Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience in a legal or leasing environment
- Experience in lease financial calculations, including Present Value (PV) scenarios and comparisons
Advantage:
- Degree in Law (LLB)
- Certification in contract management, procurement or financial analysis
- Experience in property law, real estate or leasing
Lease Administration and Documentation
- Draft, review, and amend lease agreements, including offers to lease, addendums, renewals, and
- letters of intent
- Ensure lease agreements comply with legal standards and internal policies
- Review and analyse landlord agreements and recommend changes in line with the employer’s
- mandates
- Track lease expirations, renewals, and matters in progress, maintaining accurate records and report on status updates as required
- Maintain a centralized and well-organized database of all lease contracts, agreements, amendments, and related documents
- Learn and operate the employer’s custom lease and contract management system
- Attend to amendments within Dis-Chem’s agreed parameters
Legal and Compliance Support
- Monitor and follow up on lease obligations and compliance issues
- Ensure compliance with lease terms and industry regulations, while actively monitoring legal and regulatory changes that may impact leasing operations. (including SAPC – South Africa Pharmacy Council)
- Conduct research on legal matters related to property leasing and provide summaries
- Draft legal correspondence and notices (e.g., eviction notices, default letters)
- Liaise with external attorneys and legal counsel when required
- Participate in lease negotiations within the scope of employer’s mandate
- Assist with preparation and submission of legal and regulatory documentation.
- Stay updated in South African property, commercial and compliance-related laws.
- Ensure lease agreements are compliant with Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), Consumer Protection Act (CPA) and other applicable legislation.
General Administrative Support
- Provide administrative support to the Operations Director to enhance office effectiveness.
- Maintain an up-to-date log of lease-related matters and proactively follow up on pending issues.
- Communicate and coordinate with property developers, landlords, and service providers.
- Handle confidential legal and financial information with discretion.
- Support other leasing team members where required to ensure departmental efficiency.
