Requirements:
Diploma / Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field. Professional certification (e.g., SAMTRAC, SACPCMP registration) is advantageous. Code 08 License. Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment. HSE Auditing experience is required. In-depth knowledge of South African safety regulations, codes of practice, and industry standards. Hands on knowledge on implementation of HSEQ Management Systems. Responsibilities, but not limited to:
1. Policy Development and Implementation:
Develop, review, and update safety policies and procedures in accordance with South African regulations and industry best practices. Ensure effective implementation and adherence to these policies throughout the organization. 2. Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification:
Conduct regular risk assessments and inspections to identify potential hazards in the workplace. Develop strategies to mitigate risks and eliminate or minimize workplace hazards. 3. Safety Training and Education:
Coordinate and deliver safety training programs for employees, contractors, and other relevant parties. Topics may include emergency procedures, hazard awareness, PPE usage, and safety regulations compliance. 4. Incident Investigation and Reporting:
Investigate accidents, near misses, and other safety incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions. Maintain detailed records of incidents and prepare reports for management and regulatory authorities as required. 5. Safety Compliance Monitoring:
Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant South African safety regulations, standards, and codes of practice. Keep abreast of changes in legislation and industry trends to ensure ongoing compliance. Ensure compliance on HSEC Online and timeous uploading of documents. Regularly monitor site access requirements at client site and ensure all company and employee information is up to date. 6. Emergency Preparedness and Response:
Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures. Conduct drills and simulations to test the effectiveness of emergency preparedness measures and coordinate responses to emergencies as needed. 7. Safety Communication and Promotion:
Promote a culture of safety by communicating safety policies, procedures, and best practices to all employees. Encourage active participation in safety initiatives and provide ongoing support and guidance. 8. Collaboration and Liaison:
