My client, Avima, has been a trusted provider of high-quality, customized agricultural services for 64 years, specializing in crop protection. Located in Krugersdorp and Brits, they are seeking to employ a regional business development manager to focus on growing their markets outside of the RSA in Southern and East AfricaWith extensive experience in formulation and production of crop protection and pest control, the company has developed the expertise to lead sustainable agricultural practices. Operating across Africa, Avima supports both agriculture and public health through a diverse product portfolio that includes crop protection, pest control, malaria and locust control, seed enhancement, and contract formulation. Key Responsibilities:- Develop and execute business development strategies to grow market share in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique etc.
- Identify and establish partnerships with local distributors, cooperatives, and large-scale farms.
- Manage and grow sales of agricultural chemicals including herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, and fertilizers.
- Monitor regional market trends, regulatory developments, and competitor activities to inform business strategy.
- Collaborate with marketing and technical teams to promote product awareness and education through field demonstrations and farmer outreach.
- Build, train, and support a network of local sales agents and agronomists.
- Manage regional budget, forecasting, and reporting.
- Represent the company at agricultural exhibitions, trade fairs, and stakeholder meetings.
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in agribusiness or agrochemical sales, with at least 3 years in a regional or managerial role.
- Strong understanding of African agricultural practices, crops, and challenges.
- Proven track record in business development, sales management, and distributor relations.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively as required.
