Description:
Hire Resolve is seeking a Maintenance Artisan to join our client in the Food and Packaging industry within Cape Town.
The Maintenance Artisan is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment and machinery within the facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in a mechanical or technical field and possess a high level of technical expertise.
Responsibilities :

Perform maintenance on mechanical installations to ensure equipment functionality and reliability

Ensure proper execution and timely completion of all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities
-
Take ownership of the entire maintenance process and equipment reliability, providing leadership in troubleshooting efforts
-
Support and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to maintain food safety and compliance
-
Establish and maintain an effective spare parts inventory to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity
-
Continuously support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all plant equipment
-
Develop, refine, and document maintenance procedures to standardize and improve processes
-
Enforce protocols and best FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) practices within the factory environment
-
Promote continuous improvement and root cause analysis to reduce recurring issues and enhance performance
-
Respond promptly during emergencies, alert appropriate personnel, and strictly follow safety procedures
-
Perform food safety and quality-related tasks in alignment with FSMS (Food Safety Management System) and QC (Quality Control) responsibilities
Requirements:
-
Hold a tertiary education, degree, or diploma in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering
-
Possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance, preferably in the Food and/or FMCG industry
-
Have passed the relevant Trade Test
-
Hold a valid unendorsed drivers’ license
-
Experience or certification in reliability-centered maintenance preferred, such as Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP)
-
Be familiar with electrical systems, including controls, automation, VFDs, and PLCs
-
Have knowledge of mechanical systems such as welding, part fabrication, fluid transfer, pneumatics, and plumbing (highly desired)
-
Possess practical experience with high-speed packaging operations in food/beverage industries (highly advantageous)
-
Have a good understanding of safety requirements
-
Own reliable transport
-
Be willing to work after hours or on weekends as per production demand
