Job Title: Quality Controller – Denim Clothing Location: Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), South Africa
Department: Quality Assurance / Production
Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager or Production Manager
Job Type: Full-Time Job Purpose
To oversee and maintain the quality standards of denim garments throughout the manufacturing process, from cutting and sewing to finishing and final inspection, ensuring they meet internal specifications and customer expectations. Key Responsibilities

Conduct in-line and final inspections on denim garments (jeans, jackets, etc.) to identify defects such as stitching issues, fit discrepancies, fabric flaws, and color variation.

Ensure quality procedures are followed during all stages: cutting, sewing, washing, finishing, and packing.

Record and report defects, and collaborate with production to implement corrective actions.

Verify measurements and garment specs against tech packs or customer requirements.

Check labels, trims, and accessories for accuracy and placement.

Maintain quality records, reports, and inspection documentation.

Monitor quality trends and raise any recurring issues for process improvement.

Participate in internal audits and customer quality inspections.

Support training of sewing operators and other staff on quality standards. Qualifications & Experience

Matric / Grade 12 is essential.

Diploma in Garment Technology, Fashion Production, or Quality Management is an advantage.

3+ years’ experience in garment quality control, preferably with denim clothing.

Solid understanding of garment construction, sewing techniques, and finishing processes.

Knowledge of denim-specific treatments (stone wash, enzyme wash, distressing, etc.) is highly desirable.

Familiarity with AQL (Acceptable Quality Limit) inspection standards. Skills & Competencies

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Confident in interpreting spec sheets, tech packs, and patterns.

Able to work in a fast-paced production environment.

Computer literacy (MS Excel, Word) for reporting.
