The purpose of this position is to conduct microbiological analysis in the laboratory according to Client needs and ISO 17025 Standards
Qualification Requirements
- Grade 12
- Three-year Diploma or Degree in Biotechnology
- Minimum 1 year experience in microbiological analysis
- Knowledge of Laboratory Equipment
- English language proficiency
- Time management
- Computer Literacy, especially MS Office
- Ensure that the correct chemical control measures are followed at all times
- Receiving samples, registration of samples and liaising with Clients
- Preparation of media to be used for tests and perform quality assurance tests on media
- Preparation of quality control tests
- Preparation of samples
- Performing tests as per Standard Operating Procedures: water samples, swab samples and food samples
- Compiling reports for Clients, scanning reports and sending approved results to Clients
- Water Section: Conduct tests using the Standard Operating Procedures in the Water Laboratory, and compile reports needed in the section
- Quality Assurance: Calibrate pipettes, micropipettes and glassware and complete maintenance records where required
- Perform administrative duties to ensure record accuracy and availability, and budget compliance
- Compile various production reports and ensure distribution according to organizational requirements
- Assist with stock control at the end of the month
- Assist with invoicing of clients
- Oversee that all test work is conducted in the Lab and ensure accurate results to the client and stakeholders
- Ensure adherence to quality requirements, calibrations, certifications and monitoring of laboratory feedback
- Perform tests for different Proficiency Testing Schemes
- Ensure implementation of corrective measures and objectives and targets
- Continuously monitor the Laboratory process to ensure adherence to ISO 17025 and legislative standards/requirements
- Effectively managing time and resources of self/others to ensure that work is completed efficiently within given deadlines
