Description:
Our client, a well-established company in the fashion and apparel industry, is looking for an Assistant to the Buyer to join their team in Cape Town. The business specializes in the design, sourcing, and supply of garments and accessories to major retailers, and offers a dynamic work environment with exposure to the full product lifecycle. The successful candidate will provide close administrative and operational support to the buyer, ensuring the smooth coordination of orders, samples, and communications between suppliers and customers.
Responsibilities:

Assist the buyer throughout the buying and selling process

Manage the critical path from order placement to delivery
-
Attend meetings and compile accurate minutes
-
Communicate and correspond with suppliers regarding samples, costings, and submissions
-
Handle daily follow-ups and correspondence with customers
-
Ensure timely receipt and accuracy of contracts and documentation
-
Arrange deliveries and collections with couriers, and track shipments
-
Photograph and catalogue all samples for reference and customer submissions
-
Manage sample returns and outgoing sample records
-
Assist in setting up and tidying the showroom and office
-
Maintain and update systems with order progression details
-
Coordinate product testing and communicate results
-
Organize and file orders and related documents
-
Order trims and monitor timely delivery
-
Assist with measuring and quality control of samples/products before customer submission
-
Follow up on outstanding samples from customers and suppliers
-
Track shipment schedules and coordinate with the shipping department
-
Perform general office duties including filing, restocking supplies, and taking calls
Requirements:

Excellent attention to detail and the ability to handle pressure

Strong administrative and organizational skills

Good written and verbal communication skills
-
Ability to work independently and take initiative

Own transport is required
