Farm Manager/Grower

Description:

A Hydroponic and open land crop farm based outside East London in the Eastern Cape is seeking to employ a dynamic individual as a Grower/Manager.

Requirements:

• Crop Management: 5 to 6 years
• Staff Management Planning & Administration: 5 to 6 years
• Hydroponics: 5 to 6 years

Skills and qualifications required

• Degree or formal qualifications in agriculture would be advantageous /min 5 years’ experience in horticulture

• Thorough experience in crop management from start to finish

• Fertigation experience and knowledge of fertilisers and management of irrigation using an automated system

• The ability to manage a 2.5 ha hydroponic set up.

• Staff management and delegation optimising productivity in working hours (staff of up to 50 members in full season)

• Scouting and identifying pests and diseases and the ability to implement management plans

• Knowledge in managing open field crops
