  • Experience in leading and managing large, diverse teams

  • Understanding of SHE and other statutory, regulatory, or policy requirements

Job Description

Key Performance Areas

  1. Conducting business in a safe, healthy, and environmentally friendly way

    • Effectively manage systems and risks

    • Achieve SHERQ targets

    • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements

    • Take responsibility and accountability in the following areas:

      • Health Management

      • Safety Management

      • Wellness Management

      • Environmental Management

      • Enterprise Risk Management

      • SHERQ Systems Management (ISO 9000, ISO 14001, OSHAS 18001)

      • Rail Transport legislation

  2. Developing and engaging people to build a high-performance, value-driven culture

    • Execute resourcing, leadership development, talent management, and succession programs effectively within the division

    • Optimize organization and workforce design in line with the company’s guidelines

    • Drive the performance management process to foster a performance culture

    • Create and sustain a work culture and leadership approach that supports business excellence

    • Provide leadership to direct reports and the operations team

  3. Creating value and growth for employees, customers, business partners, service providers, and shareholders

    • Participate in formulating the strategy, master plan, objectives, and implementation plan for the company in South Africa

    • Ensure the successful rollout of the master plan

    • Promote internal customer satisfaction through quality products and efficient processes

    • Oversee budget control and ensure compliance with financial governance standards

  4. Maximizing operating profit and cash flow while managing costs effectively

    • Lead the preparation and execution of yearly budgets

    • Drive sustainability through annual CAPEX budget achievements

    • Ensure effective stock management

    • Own and commit to Business Improvement initiatives and performance targets

  5. Optimizing sustainable throughput by enhancing processes, quality, costs, and efficiencies

    • Maximize the steel plant value chain by optimizing operations across steel-making units

    • Ensure sustainable output of products at minimal cost with high quality and service standards

    • Lead continuous and sustainable improvements in throughput, efficiency, quality, and cost

    • Be accountable for meeting performance targets

    • Implement and support standardization initiatives
