Description:
We’re seeking a diligent, organised bookkeeper to handle all aspects of month‑end accounting and support core administrative tasks. You’ll work closely with our director to ensure timely, accurate financials and free up leadership bandwidth for business growth.
What you'll do
Core Bookkeeping
- General Ledger Maintenance: Post and reconcile journal entries, ledgers and trial balances
- Bank Reconciliations: Reconcile bank and credit‑card statements against the ledger
- Accounts Receivable & Payable:
- Issue and send client invoices (rent, levy, body‑corporate billing)
- Record supplier bills, process payments and manage ageing schedules
- Expense & Petty Cash Management: Track and reimburse expenses; maintain petty‑cash log
- CSOP & CIPC Filings: Prepare and file annual CSOP returns; lodge annual returns with CIPC
- Software & Systems: Operate PASTEL (or equivalent) and maintain digital filing structure
Month‑End Close (1st & Last Weeks)
- Post accruals and prepayments; ensure cut‑off completeness
- Produce and distribute monthly management reports (income statement, balance sheet summaries)
- Assist with VAT return preparation (if required)
- Identify and resolve reconciling items
Additional Administrative Support
- Manage Director’s calendar: schedule meetings, coordinate calls and follow up on action items
- Draft correspondence and prepare ad‑hoc presentations or reports
- Maintain client contact logs and assist with onboarding documentation
- Support ad‑hoc projects, such as new business setups, systems implementations or process‑improvement initiatives

- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge: Understanding of basic accounting principles, month‑end close processes and statutory filings
- Attributes:

What you'll need
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of bookkeeping and invoicing experience (ideally in an accounting firm or property‑management context)
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in PASTEL or similar accounting software
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, V‑lookups, basic formulas)
- Knowledge: Understanding of basic accounting principles, month‑end close processes and statutory filings
- Attributes:
- Exceptional attention to detail and time‑management
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Ability to work independently under tight deadlines
