Description:

PURPOSE OF ROLE

We are seeking a highly qualified Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide design expertise throughout all phases of the project lifecycle (Engineering/Procurement/Construction). The successful candidate will deliver mechanical engineering work on projects while ensuring compliance with established processes and procedures. You will contribute to the mechanical engineering team's design work and provide critical technical input and oversight during planning phases to enable accurate scheduling and cost estimations.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Functional Oversight : Deliver high-quality designs that meet integrity requirements and client specifications while adhering to Lesedi procedures and standards.
  • Tenders and Proposals : Complete feasibility studies, develop procurement specifications, and provide technical input throughout the proposal preparation process to ensure comprehensive and accurate bids.
  • Contract Negotiations : Participate in client negotiations to ensure all technical elements are properly addressed and included in final contracts.
  • Design and Design Reviews : Generate and oversee mechanical designs, facilitate design reviews, manage approval processes, and ensure proper configuration control during modifications.
  • Quality Assurance : Participate in quality assurance audits, factory acceptance tests, and receipt inspections to verify that equipment meets technical specifications.
  • Testing and Commissioning : Assist with test procedure development, implement commissioning procedures, facilitate plant performance tests, and participate in HAZOP studies to ensure installations meet design intent.

QUALIFICATION

  • B.Sc or B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering
  • ECSA registration as a Professional Engineer (non-negotiable)

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) industry

COMPETENCIES

Knowledge

  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical codes and standards
  • Knowledge of the OHS Act and its Regulations as applicable to Mechanical Disciplines
  • Familiarity with nuclear standards and codes
  • Understanding of ISO, ASME-NQA-1, and IAEA quality systems principles
  • Knowledge of the Lesedi Integrated Management System (IMS)

Skills

  • Advanced design capabilities in mechanical engineering
