Key Accounts Manager – Food Services

Salary: Market related

Location: Paarden Eiland


Job Purpose:

Manage the effective running of specific National Food Service accounts by achieving set targets, while maintaining food safety and quality standards.

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Matric (Grade 12)

  • Degree in Sales and/or Marketing ( Required )

  • SAP experience

Experience Required:

  • 5–8 years of experience in the FMCG industry ( Required )

  • Experience in the seafood industry ( Advantageous )

Contract Type:

Permanent (6-month probation period)

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday, 08h00 – 17h00
( Hours may fluctuate depending on production/operational demands )




Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve sales targets, maximize turnover, profitability, and growth of assigned Key Account customers.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Key Account customers to ensure loyalty and reduce risk of churn.

  • Understand key customer needs and requirements thoroughly.

  • Propose tailored solutions that meet customer objectives.

  • Ensure timely delivery of correct products and services.

  • Serve as the primary communication link between customers and the company.

  • Resolve customer issues and complaints efficiently to maintain trust.

  • Prepare and present regular reports on progress and forecasts using key account metrics.

  • Foster a positive team environment and provide regular feedback and training to achieve company objectives.

  • Align sales growth strategies with overall company goals.

  • Present weekly/monthly reports on sales performance, margins, budgets, and variances.

  • Identify and develop new customers and markets.

  • Manage returns and process claims promptly.

  • Monitor competitor activity and report insights to the Sales Manager.

  • Provide accurate feedback to customers on stock availability and shortages.

  • Meet budgeted expectations and provide insight into any barriers to success.

  • Manage stock levels and meet stock management targets for your portfolio.

  • Implement process improvements to maximize efficiency.

  • Continuously assess and grow the SKU range in your portfolio.

  • Oversee stock at depots and distribution centers, including replenishment planning and demand forecasting.

  • Manage both sales and administration functions while maintaining profitability and strong customer relationships.
