We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Resident Engineer (Structures) to join our client’s team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee and manage the structural aspects of a significant building complex construction project in Cape Town.
Role Description:
As our Resident Engineer (Structures), you will be the primary point of contact on-site for all structural engineering matters. Your key responsibilities will include:
· Ensuring strict adherence to design drawings, specifications, and relevant building codes.
· Monitoring and supervising all structural construction activities, including reinforced concrete and structural steel work.
· Implementing and enforcing rigorous quality assurance procedures and maintaining comprehensive records.
· Overseeing compliance with safety standards and regulations on site.
· Managing project timelines and proactively identifying and addressing potential delays or issues related to structural works.
· Liaising effectively with the on-site construction team, contractors, and other stakeholders.
· Providing clear and concise communication and reports to the office-based design team.
· Collaborating closely with the design team to resolve any technical queries or design clarifications.
Requirements:
· BEng/BTech/BSc Eng in Structural Engineering
· Professional Technologist/Engineer (PrTech/PrEng) registration with the relevant South African professional body.
· At least 8 years of post-registration experience.
· A minimum of 8 years of full-time site experience specifically on commercial building projects involving reinforced concrete and structural steel is essential .
