Description:
Working closely with engineers, designers, and production teams, the Draughtsman ensures all drawings meet strict defence standards, support efficient manufacturing, and reflect mission-specific requirements.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILIITES
Key Responsibilities
Create detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings of vehicle components, assemblies, and systems based on engineering, customer, and safety specifications. Prepare solid models of components, sub-assemblies, and full vehicles using company-defined file structure and numbering protocols. Set up and manage high-quality rendering models for reviews, presentations, and design verification. Track and document all design changes and updates, ensuring technical drawings remain accurate, traceable, and compliant with standards. Deliver complete drawing packages including assembly instructions, change logs, and BOMs (Bill of Materials) to support manufacturing, integration, and maintenance. Assist during the prototyping phase, supporting build and test activities to enable closed-loop feedback and iterative design improvements. Maintain and enforce draughting standards across all design projects and documents. Project Execution & Compliance:
Meet project deadlines by delivering completed drawing sets on time, supporting agile development in fast-paced defence projects. Ensure all technical drawings comply with internal design standards and align with statutory and defence-related requirements for manufacturing. Delivery of structured technical documentation necessary for compliance with military certifications and procurement processes. Expand the drawing standards to include lessons learnt, adapting to internal manufacturing processes and requirements. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers to ensure drawings accurately reflect design intent and functional requirements. Collaborate with industrial designers to maintain balance between performance, aesthetics, and operational functionality in vehicle design. Liaise with the production team to ensure manufacturability of components using available defence-grade materials and processes. Coordinate with HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality) personnel to ensure all designs adhere to military safety standards and quality assurance requirements. Engage with military customers or end-users to understand mission-specific needs and translate those into practical engineering drawings. Communicate effectively with engineers, technicians, and project managers to ensure design coherence and timely delivery. Continuous Improvement & Innovation:
