Job Title: Mechanical Supervisor
Salary/rate: Market Related
Position overview:
• To oversee and manage mechanical installations in solar energy project.
• The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, project supervision, and solar energy infrastructure.
• This role requires hands-on leadership, ensuring that all mechanical works, including mounting structures, tracking systems, and balance of plant (BoP)components, are installed according to safety, quality, and project specifications.
Qualifications: • Diploma/ Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical supervision, preferably in solar or renewable energy projects
• Strong understanding of mechanical structure, including fixed-tilt and tracking solar mounting system
• Knowledge of OSHA, SANS, and relevant safety and quality standards
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings
• Experience managing teams in a fast-paced construction environment
• Strong problem -solving, leadership, and communication
Skills and Experience:
• Experience in large-scale utility solar PV projects
• Familiarity with ground- mount solar PV installation techniques
• Ability to work in remote locations and adapt to challenging work environments
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
Responsibilities:
• Supervision & Management: Oversee mechanical installations, including solar panel mounting structures, trackers, and mechanical balance of systems.
• Quality Control: Ensure all mechanical components are installed in compliance with project drawings, standards, and industry best practices.
• Health & Safety Compliance: Enforce adherence to health and safety regulations, ensuring safe working conditions on-site.
• Team Coordination: Lead and manage mechanical teams, including technicians, welders, and riggers, ensuring smooth workflow.
• Project Execution: Monitor project schedules, identify potential delays, and work
with project managers to resolve issues.
• Material Management: Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure the availability of required mechanical components.
• Reporting: Maintain daily and weekly reports on project progress, site challenges, and solutions.
• Stakeholder Communication: Work closely with electrical supervisors, civil engineers, and project managers to ensure seamless project execution.
