Our client, Ceres Cascade Farms situated in Prince Alfred Hamlet (Western Cape), has a position available for a Production Manager to join their team.The ideal candidate is a dynamic individual with strong leadership skills, as well as excellent planning and problem-solving skills. Furthermore, the incumbent is open to innovation and has a business growth and improvement mindset.
The main focus of the role will be to manage all aspects of farm production and operations, ensuring optimal productivity, quality, and profitability of two farms with peaches, nectarines, and pears (approximately 50 HA each, located 15km apart).
Responsibilities will include: *Personnel management & development (approximately 120 people) *Management of production processes (including pruning, thinning, irrigation, spraying, fertilisation, and related activities) *Crop estimates and planning around harvest *Planning for future fruit orchard development *Providing input in the budget, budget and cost management *Recordkeeping and compilation of weekly & monthly farm activities, production and quality reports *Managing of best farm practices *Ensuring compliance with GlobalGap and SIZA standards *Planning & management of maintenance on production and other farm equipment *Any additional tasks related to the role.
Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:
• A tertiary qualification in Agriculture;
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant and practical experience in a similar managerial position in fruit production;
• Well-developed computer and administration skills;
• Good communication skills in English & Afrikaans (Xhosa will be beneficial);
• Willingness to work after hours and weekends as per industry requirements.
• Valid driver’s license.
Commencement date: July / August 2025.
