Purpose
Reporting to the Director: Human Resources, the post incumbent will be required to provide the institution with efficient and effective HR Services, in line with Service Level Agreements, through the implementation of HR policies, processes, systems, and procedures of a statistical and financial nature. Undertaking generalist tasks associated with Remuneration and Benefits management within the organisation. Implement plans and/or programmes to ensure the most effective use of human resources to support the objectives of Sol Plaatje University.

Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management / Business Management or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 3-4 years’ experience in a remuneration and benefits environment.
  • Computer literacy – Intermediate MS Package Suite.
Recommendation
  • Global Remuneration Professional (GRP) accreditation or equivalent.
  • South African Board of Personnel Practitioners (SABPP) registration.
  • Registration with a relevant professional body i.e. South African Rewards Association (SARA).
  • Experience in the Higher Education sector would be an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide input into the research of Remuneration and benefits policies, plans and market trends.
  • Salary benchmarking & Market information sourcing.
  • Collates market data, using national salary surveys.
  • Collects data and research competitor’s remuneration and reward strategies.
  • Accurately benchmarks each position to the national/industry circle salary survey.
  • Analyses market data and prepares recommendations for senior management.
  • Implements recommendations upon approval.
  • Completes pay analysis across the Institution and ensures employees compensation packages presents equality across position levels, duties, experience, race and gender etc.
  • Investigates pay anomalies.
  • Reports on pay anomalies and provides recommendation.
  • Produce analytical reports with recommendations for Director: Human Resources.
  • Monitor the implementation of remuneration policies, systems and procedures, making recommendations to senior management regarding same.
  • Monitor remuneration trends and market surveys.
  • Applies the pays scale across all salary changes.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to identify and propose total reward solutions to influence employee behavior, to attract and retain.
  • Produce reports to support the Director: Human Resources presentations to Senior Management and relevant meetings/committees (Governance Structures).

  • Maintain an accurate and up to date database of job evaluation results and validated results.
  • Manages job evaluation and profiling process in accordance with policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Complete and submit all relevant documentation and input to participate in identified salary surveys to determine prevailing pay rates and benefits.
  • Calculates the payment of incentives, rewards, salaries, and wages etc., as well as queries/problem resolution.
  • Conduct ad hoc as well as planned benchmarking exercises.
  • Compile the annual increase schedule for manager review.
  • Update and amend schedules as per management outcomes.
  • Prepare and distribute the annual increase letters.
  • Advises payroll of salary changes.
  • Advise on administrate employee benefits (Medical Aid, Pension Fund and Group Life Assurance).
  • Completes monthly Employee/Employment Equity review & movements.

  • Completes Annual Employment Equity remuneration reports.
  • Continuous support and advisory to the Institution, professional and strategic.
  • Participation in various remuneration councils and wage committees.
