TWK Agri has the following vacancy available: Data Engineer within the IT division at Pretoria, Gauteng.Responsibilities and Duties
- Define and implement the enterprise data and analytics strategy aligned to business objectives and Enterprise Architecture framework
- Drive data governance practices, data ownership, and data quality frameworks
- Oversee the delivery and continuous improvement of dashboards, reports, KPIs, and self-service analytics
- Manage BI platforms (e.g. Power BI) ensuring reliability, consistency, and adoption across the organisation
- Work closely with business users to understand reporting requirements and translate them into effective solutions
- Lead the design of data models, data integration, and modern data platforms (cloud or hybrid)
- Design and build the enterprise data warehouse architecture to support robust, scalable, and secure data storage and access for enterprise-wide reporting and analytics
- Develop and manage ETL processes for data ingestion, transformation and integration
- Oversee data sources, either cloud-based or on-premises, ensuring security and compliance
- Champion the use of advanced analytics, predictive modelling, and data science where applicable
- Partner with business teams to turn data into actionable insights
- Build, lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary team: BI Developers, Data Analysts, Data Engineers, Data Scientists
- Foster a culture of data literacy and empower business users through training and enablement
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Informatics, or Statistics
- 8+ years’ experience as a Data Engineer or a similar role
- 5+ years' with DB2, MS SQL, ETL, and data warehousing
- Certified in Azure Synapse with 2+ years’ experience
- Skilled in SQL, data modelling, and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
- Proficient in data analysis tools, Google Analytics, Salesforce
- Experience with data strategy, governance, and cloud platforms
- Knowledge of machine learning and data privacy (POPIA, GDPR)
- Strong stakeholder engagement, business insight, and leadership
- Strategic, detail-orientated, and passionate about data-driven work
