Position: Technical product owner
Location: Johannesburg
Industry: IT & Finance
Experience Level: Minimum 5 years in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
Salary Range: R35 000 – R55 000 per month
An exciting opportunity exists for a Technical Product Owner to join a fast-paced, globally operating company that offers innovative tax and finance solutions through advanced tech platforms. This is a high-impact role for a strategic, hands-on professional who thrives in a dynamic, non-hierarchical environment and wants to contribute to an exponential growth trajectory.
Responsibilities:
- Define and lead the product vision, roadmap, and strategy in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Serve as the key point of contact for product-related communication internally and externally.
- Translate business needs into detailed product requirements and user stories.
- Manage product backlogs and prioritize features based on business value and alignment to strategy (using Jira).
- Engage in Agile ceremonies – daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives.
- Oversee the UI/UX process, ensuring usability and design best practices.
- Lead cross-functional teams through the full lifecycle of product development and deployment.
- Conduct product demos, user training, and internal knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Research emerging technologies, conduct PoCs, and identify innovative opportunities.
- Liaise with internal and external development teams to ensure timely, high-quality releases.
- Ensure robust testing and participate in UAT phases before go-lives.
- Document and report progress, risks, and blockers to senior stakeholders.
- Facilitate the adoption of new features across business and tech teams.
- Foster an Agile culture that supports continuous improvement and value delivery.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Finance, IT, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a product or project ownership role within tech environments.
- Proven experience managing full software development lifecycles.
- Solid understanding of business process design, re-engineering, and analysis.
- Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies (certification preferred).
- Hands-on experience with JIRA and product backlog management.
- Familiarity with CRM/ERP systems — Salesforce experience highly advantageous.
- Understanding of cloud technologies, microservices, integration patterns, and low-code platforms is a plus
