Project Engineer

Description:

• To oversee the successful execution of various projects assigned. The incumbent needs to be able to deliver projects on time within the agreed budget; initiate, plan, execute, monitor and close the projects; guide, plan, communicate, coordinate, lead, support and report on projects being executed.
• The Project Engineer is responsible for technical, strategic and tactical implementation of engineering and operational goals to exceed customer expectations for product development, quality, cost and delivery, maximising efficiency, optimising, and driving continuous improvement across all engineering related areas of the products and business.
• Work closely with internal and external key stakeholders, customer service, manufacturing, projects and customers regarding technical support of their activities.
  Key Performance Areas/Accountabilities/High-Level Functions:
  
  • Ensure the efficient and profitable execution of all allocated programs and related contracts within the constraints of the schedule, budget and scope of work.
  • Develop, execute and maintain a project management plan for all allocated engineering projects.
  • Ensure contractual requirements and objectives, utilizing resources effectively over the full lifecycle of the contract.
  • Ensure the conformity of program outputs against contractual requirements, as well as company norms and standards.
  • Manage the identification, assessment and mitigation of product and project risks.
  • Prepare product and project definitions during the business development process.
  • Assist with developing proposals / quotations in coordination with Exco and the Business Development team.
  • Assist with the preparation and management of product and project budgets, from identification to completion.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers to ensure optimal performance.
  • Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the product and engineering strategy.
  • Provide technical management on projects to ensure effective project execution.
  • Provide technical support to business development, estimating and onsite engineering teams.
  • Work with leadership teams to decide which engineering projects are the highest priority against the business targets and which can be executed with the available resources.
    Qualification and Experience:
    
    • A tertiary Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
    • At least 10 years experience in a relevant engineering/high tech/defence industry would be highly advantageous.
    • Proven experience in projects, managing multiple projects at a time.
    • Qualifications in Project Management would be advantageous.
