Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and driven Workshop Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our busy vehicle workshop. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, technical knowledge, and a focus on quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. You’ll be responsible for managing technicians, coordinating workloads, ensuring health and safety compliance, and maintaining high service standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and coordinate daily workshop operations to maximize productivity and efficiency.
Supervise, support, and motivate a team of technicians, apprentices, and workshop staff.
Ensure all repair and service work is completed on time and to manufacturer standards.
Allocate jobs to technicians based on skill levels and availability.
Monitor job progress and keep service advisors informed of any delays or additional work.
Conduct regular quality control checks to maintain high workmanship standards.
Manage workshop resources, tooling, and equipment, ensuring they are safe and well-maintained.
Liaise with parts and service departments to streamline workflow and reduce downtime.
Enforce all health, safety, and environmental standards within the workshop.
Train and develop staff through coaching and performance reviews.
Assist in achieving department targets related to efficiency, labour sales, and customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
Proven experience in a Workshop Controller or Workshop Manager role in the automotive sector.
Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of vehicle diagnostics and repair processes.
Excellent team leadership, planning, and organizational skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Familiarity with dealership management systems
Solid understanding of health and safety regulations in a workshop environment.
