Icon Fruit is marketing and supplying fresh fruit to leading local and international retailers and wholesalers. The following career opportunity became available in their Paarl Office.
LOGISTICS MANAGER
The purpose of this position will be to facilitate the following activities, responsibilities and processes effectively:
- ensure forecasts and bookings for containers, shipping lines and transport are sent and updated timeous
- manage airfreight bookings with various agents
- negotiating with service providers re various crucial aspects
- open and manage marine insurance claims with shipping lines
- booking with third party logistics partners
- effective management of all relevant documentation
- plan and execute loading plans for vessels, as well as loading instructions to Packhouses and delivery time-slots at Cold Stores
- compare loading instructions with Cold Store load outs
- manage sensitech template orders and stock levels with cold stores
- arrange transport of containers – supported by all the relevant communication
- arrange and manage local transport
- arrange local transfer of stock between Cold Stores for Airfreight
- timeous and accurate capturing of all relevant information and data on the relevant system
- manage deadlines and all required documentation
- keep commercial marketers and international receivers informed regarding finalized packing lists, as per vessel
- effective delegation of tasks and management of team members

- be highly computer literate
- preferably have 5 years experience in fruit export logistics
- knowledge of Produce Linc ERP system will be advantageous
- be a precise and timeous organizer, administrator and problem solver
- be attentive and focused on detail
- will have the stamina to function effectively under pressure
- realize that the position requires long, and sometimes awkward, working hours
- be an above average team player
- have reliable references.
The successful candidate will:
- preferably have an appropriate tertiary qualification
- be highly computer literate
- preferably have 5 years experience in fruit export logistics
- knowledge of Produce Linc ERP system will be advantageous
- be a precise and timeous organizer, administrator and problem solver
- be attentive and focused on detail
- will have the stamina to function effectively under pressure
- realize that the position requires long, and sometimes awkward, working hours
- be an above average team player
- have reliable references.
