Automotive Production Manager (Durban)
An automotive parts manufacturing company based in Durban, KZN is looking for a Production Manager to lead and manage the production team to create a management culture that drives performance to ensure that good quality parts are produced on time in full and to budget to meet the expectations of customers and stakeholders in a safe working environment
KEY PERFORMANCE AREA
Process owner for the Production Department and is responsible for implementing, maintaining and updating all policies and procedures in the department Responsible for meeting all customer and executive management KPIs for the Department. When KPIs are not being met investigate root cause and implement improvements to improve performance. Ensures risk assessments are conducted, planned, and executed activities to reduce high- risk processes. 5s and housekeeping for all subordinates and areas of responsibility. Responsible for critical/risk issues such as risk stock levels, and potential SSNs. Ensure Group Leaders follow their activity schedules Ensures group leaders use the production recording systems as per instructions for reporting production performance. Manage, lead, and mentor departmental group leaders in their respective roles and responsibilities. Recruitment of Supervisors and Technical specialists. Training development, appraisal and mentorship of Group Leaders. Ensures critical skills are retained and skills are developed as a continuous program. Responsibility for on-time submission and resolution of customer complaints/CARs/Audit findings in your area of responsibility. DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) method. Identify and implement permanent corrective actions Identify the real causes Identify and implement immediate actions Describe the problem Clearly defining the problem (Define), measuring (Measure), and analyzing process data to identify root causes (Analyze), then implementing improvements (Improve) and controlling processes to ensure sustainable quality gains (Control). PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) method. Prepare the 8D process 8D (Eight Disciplines Problem Solving) Validate permanent corrective actions Be able to use the following Problem-Solving methods:MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Preferably an Engineering degree/diploma or Diploma in Production Management (NQF Level 6/7) Minimum 5 years of Production experience in the Metal Industry / Automotive Industry or similar, preferably OEM. Experience in the Welding department is an advantage At least 3 years in a Production Management capacity in a unionised environment and managing a large staff compliment.
