Description:

Our client in the Oil and Gas industry looking to employ an experienced Tax Lead, responsible for all indirect tax compliance and risk management locally and for other African regions. This individual needs to be on track with all local and international tax regulations, customs and excise duties. If you have the relevant experience and qualifications, please apply.

Responsibilities:

Prepare, file, and make payments for VAT, excise duties, fuel levies, customs duties, and environmental taxes timeously and accurately Review recons processes for all indirect tax accounts, ensure alignment with financial reporting Manage tax audits and liaise with tax authorities, provide appropriate documents and respond to queries Maintain and improve internal controls, ensure full compliance with indirect tax functions Provide advice on indirect tax implications, customs and excise duties, for new business initiatives, contracts, supply chain structures Track and translate legislative changes, advise senior leadership business impacts Identify and improve strategies to mitigate tax risks and advance tax positions Liaise with legal, finance, and commercial teams, ensure tax-efficient operations Liaise with SARS and regulatory bodies regarding indirect tax matters, customs and excise regulations Liaise with industry groups and professional networks to improve tax policies Manage automation initiatives to improve efficiency, tax compliance and reporting processes Liaise with IT and finance teams to improve ERP systems Maintain tax training programs for internal stakeholders, ensure compliance awareness

Requirements:

Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, Postgraduate Tax qualification Professional accreditation SAICA, SAIT, CIMA advantageous Solid knowledge of accounting principles and tax laws Minimum 6 years experience in indirect tax Solid knowledge of South African VAT legislation, excise duties, fuel levies, customs duties, and relevant tax laws Experience working with multinational tax structures and cross-border transactions adventageous Strong experience in managing tax audits, liaising with SARS, and handling tax disputes Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills Proficiency in tax technology and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with tight deadlines Excellent verbal and written communication and report writing skills
