Description:
PURPOSE OF ROLE
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Design Engineer/Technologist to join our Oil, Gas and Power Engineering team. This is a 100% technical role focused on providing specialist inputs and producing professional, compliant designs that meet all client specifications, industry codes, and standards. You will be responsible for delivering quality electrical engineering outputs on time and within budget while adhering to our internal engineering processes. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in Electrical Engineering.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Design and Development
- Produce professional and compliant engineering designs within allocated hours, on schedule, and within budget
- Develop concept, basic, and detailed designs according to specifications and requirements
- Perform technical reviews of outputs from colleagues and address internal/external review comments
- Identify and apply required codes and standards to ensure technical compliance
- Provide design integration across disciplines to ensure a cohesive final product
Tender and Proposal Support
- Develop technical specifications and provide accurate inputs for company proposals
- Review and clarify user requirement specifications (URS)
- Participate in concept development, feasibility checks, and value engineering
- Compile technical documentation and adjudicate supplier offers
- Identify technical and commercial risks during the proposal phase
Project Implementation
- Provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases
- Assist with site engineering, resolving technical queries, and performing site inspections
- Support commissioning activities including procedure development and data recording
- Participate in system/plant performance testing and punch list resolution
- Contribute to project handover and documentation, including as-built records
Process Compliance and Integration
- Adhere to Lesedi engineering procedures, guidelines, and standards
- Interface with procurement, finance, SHEQ, and project controls teams
- Support change management processes and provide input to project schedules
- Maintain compliance with health and safety requirements
- Provide guidance to Junior Engineers/Technologists and EITs
QUALIFICATION
- Sc, B.Eng, or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Registration as a Professional Engineer/Technologist
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 years Electrical Engineering experience in the Industrial, Oil & Gas, Power Generation or Energy Sector in an EPC or EPCM Environment.
- Minimum of 3 years Electrical Systems Design Experience (Basic Design of Systems with exposure to Detail Designs performed by Electrical OEMs).
- Greenfields /Brownfields Project Design Life Cycle
