Job OverviewA growing manufacturing/distribution company is seeking a detail-oriented Procurement Administrator to take full ownership of procurement functions, inventory control, and supplier management. The successful candidate will play a vital role in streamlining procurement processes, optimizing stock levels, and ensuring the timely acquisition of quality goods at competitive prices. Key Responsibilities- Supplier Sourcing & Management
- Identify, evaluate, and engage suppliers and vendors for consumables.
- Negotiate prices, contracts, and payment terms.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve disputes.
- Stay current on competitor pricing and market trends.
- Source alternative products and suppliers as needed.
- Purchasing & Orders
- Place and manage purchase orders based on forecasts and inventory levels.
- Track and follow up on orders to ensure timely delivery.
- Match purchase orders with delivery notes, GRNs, and invoices.
- Submit correct documentation to the creditors department for processing.
- Inventory & Stock Control
- Collaborate with warehouse and inventory teams to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Monitor stock rotation and ensure compliance with storage and safety standards.
- Forecasting & Planning
- Work closely with production and operations teams to forecast demand.
- Plan supply schedules to avoid stockouts or overstocking.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier communication logs.
- Generate regular procurement, inventory, and supplier performance reports.
- Interdepartmental Coordination
- Liaise with logistics, quality control, and production teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Troubleshoot supply chain issues and support process improvements.
- Cost Control
- Monitor procurement spend and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Conduct market research for informed buying decisions.
- Supplier & Product Evaluation
- Assess suppliers for reliability, quality, cost, and delivery consistency.
Skills & Requirements
- Grade 12 Certificate (Matric)
- Diploma/Degree in Procurement or Supply Chain Management
- Driver’s License
- 3–5 years of experience in procurement, inventory control, or supply chain management
- Manufacturing or distribution environment experience preferred
- Proficient in ERP systems (Syspro advantageous)
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
