My client is part of South Africa's top insurance group, and their business unit offers wealth-building investment and retirement solutions. As a Data Engineer, you'll manage and maintain cloud or on-premise data platforms, implementing best practices, and ensuring data security and accessibility.It Involves:
- Designing and presenting analytic solutions that meet business requirements
- Database optimisation (writing queries, defining schemas and performance improvement)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Automate data infrastructure deployment and configuration of the following CI/CD principles, monitoring, logging, and alerting.
- Support and maintain production and non-production of database systems and platforms.
- Guide and support junior team members through mentorship and training.
Requirements:
+ 8 years of technical working experience in major data platforms such as SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, RDS, and their tooling. + 4 years hands-on working experience with AWS cloud, AWS data and analytics services, such as S3, Athena, Glue, RDS, Redshift, Lake formation, Sagemaker, Lambda, etc.
Some experience in AI platforms like AWS AI, Azure AI, Google AI, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Meta is an advantage.
Education:
Matric + a Bachelor's Degree in IT/Computer Science/Engineering
