Hire Resolve is seeking a skilled and experienced Qualified Mechanic to join our team in Dunoon. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of diesel vehicles and related equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety. You’ll work closely with a collaborative workshop team, upholding high standards of service delivery and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Vehicle Maintenance
-
Carry out scheduled maintenance and servicing on diesel vehicles.

Perform oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication tasks.
-
Inspect vehicles to identify faults and recommend necessary repairs.
-
Reduce downtime by proactively identifying and resolving issues.
-
Maintain cleanliness and presentation of assigned vehicles.
2. Diagnostics
-
Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues.
-
Interpret technical manuals and fault codes to guide repair procedures.
-
Accurately identify faults prior to work being booked in.
3. Workshop Duties
-
Conduct thorough bumper-to-bumper inspections.
-
Complete all job card documentation accurately.
-
Perform both minor and major services.
-
Execute any additional duties as assigned by management.
4. Efficiency & Productivity
-
Prioritize and complete work within set timeframes.
-
Maximize productivity while minimizing vehicle downtime.
-
Manage workload and resources efficiently.
5. Quality, Health & Safety
-
Comply with all health and safety protocols.
-
Attend daily toolbox talks and ensure high workshop standards.
-
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
-
Uphold quality standards on all completed work.
6. Team Collaboration
-
Work in coordination with technicians, service advisors, and supervisors.
-
Support team members to meet operational targets and deadlines.
7. Ad Hoc Duties
-
Assist with occasional or one-off tasks as needed.
-
Provide cover for colleagues or supervisors when required.
Requirements
Education & Training
-
Matric (Grade 12) or NQF Level 4 equivalent.
-
Trade qualification in automotive mechanics (NQF Level 4+).
-
Completed apprenticeship in automotive or diesel mechanics.
-
Additional certifications in diesel engines, diagnostics, or electrical systems are advantageous.
Experience
-
3–5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical repair and maintenance.
-
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
-
In-depth knowledge of automotive systems such as engines, brakes, transmissions, and electrical systems.

Prior leadership or mentoring experience within a workshop setting is a plus.
