A prominent and fast-expanding group in the restaurant and hospitality sector is seeking an accomplished Indirect Procurement Manager to join their Management Committee (MANCO). This strategic leadership role is responsible for managing and evolving the indirect procurement function across multiple business units in Africa, ensuring alignment with commercial priorities, operational needs, and long-term growth objectives. The role will lead the formulation and execution of category plans across a range of non-product spend areas, with influence extending across regional teams and key business stakeholders.This position is ideal for a procurement leader who brings a strong balance of commercial insight, stakeholder management, and strategic execution experience within a complex and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shape and deliver regional procurement strategies for indirect spend categories such as marketing services, technology, professional services, facilities, and business development support.
- Provide strategic oversight and guidance to regional teams responsible for category execution, ensuring consistency and alignment to the broader business goals.
- Lead enterprise-level sourcing initiatives, including contract negotiations, supplier selection, and vendor performance management.
- Drive long-term value creation through structured commercial frameworks, cost optimization initiatives, and proactive supplier engagement.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships with key internal stakeholders, ensuring procurement is integrated into key business planning and budgeting cycles.
- Ensure procurement processes support sustainable growth, compliance, and operational excellence across all business units.
- Partner with business leaders to understand category needs, define priorities, and translate them into executable sourcing and commercial strategies.
- Establish category governance and performance metrics to monitor supplier outcomes, risk exposure, and total value delivery.
- Champion sustainable procurement practices and drive environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into sourcing strategies and vendor partnerships.
- Collaborate with technology and systems teams to improve procurement reporting, analytics, and process automation.
- Facilitate alignment across regional teams and franchise partners to ensure consistency in commercial terms, quality standards, and procurement governance.
- Support change management and procurement transformation programs to embed a high-performance, commercially driven culture across the function.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- 8–10 years of progressive procurement experience , with at least 5 years in a senior-level category leadership role , preferably within the food, hospitality, FMCG, or manufacturing industries.
- Strong track record managing indirect spend portfolios in a multi-business or franchise-based environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in supplier performance management, cost modelling, commercial negotiations, and category planning.
- Proven ability to operate in a matrix structure and lead through influence across regional and cross-functional teams.
- Experience implementing supplier consolidation strategies, service level frameworks, and process standardization initiatives.
- Deep understanding of indirect procurement’s role in supporting innovation, operational efficiency, and long-term value generation.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility across all levels of the business.
Qualifications (Minimum Requirements):
- A completed Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain , Procurement , Engineering , Business , or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CIPS , PMP , or MBA are beneficial.
- Experience working with procurement systems and analytics tools (e.g., SAP, Coupa, Oracle) is preferred.
