The following position has become available for a Supervisor in our Depot, based in Kempton Park. The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the receipt, storage, and picking of goods to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with company standards. This role ensures that all inventory processes align with quality parameters and delivery schedules, contributing to seamless supply chain operations. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in logistics or warehouse coordination. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who can ensure smooth and efficient dispatch operations while maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism.
RESPONSBILITIES:
Manage the Accuracy and Quality of Goods Received
- Reconcile all goods received with delivery notes, depot transfers, and credit notes, recording discrepancies in writing.
- Reconciles returns and ensures it moved to the correct locations before the write off
- Report shortages, surpluses, and unfit products to the Distribution Centre Supervisor after informing the supplier.
- Ensure received goods are promptly moved to the main store after verification.
- Checking all expiry dates on receipt of goods
- Arrange re-packing for products that no longer meet quality standards.
- Ensure all receipts are GI’d and packed away within 8 hours.
Raising GI’s
- Authorize GI’s for all receipts, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
Off-loading of Containers and Vehicles
- Request necessary labour from the Distribution Centre Supervisor for off-loading vehicles.
- Off-load all vehicles within the prescribed time to avoid demurrage charges.
- Supervise off-loading operations, ensuring safety and security of products.
Warehousing and Storage of Products
- Store products safely, maintaining cleanliness and saleable condition.
- Arrange for re-packing of in-warehouse damages and report them to the Distribution Centre Supervisor.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards and an organized workspace.
- Recommend fumigation schedules, rodent control, and pest risk measures to the Distribution Centre Supervisor.
- Coordinates the monthly and ad-hoc sampling by recording it on various platforms and submitting it to the lab.
- Ensure that FIFO is practiced
- Perform weekly checks on stored products to monitor for any signs of rodent, moth or weevil activity and report any findings immediately to the Distribution Centre Supervisor
Security
- Ensure all products are secure and accounted for at all times.
- Report shortages and losses to the Depot Supervisor immediately.
- Assist in security measures during vehicle loading and off-loading.
- Ensure warehouse cages, gates, and entrances are secured at all times.
- Adhere to and assist in implementing security measures for product and facility safety.
General
- Conduct weekly cycle counts and report findings to the Distribution Centre Supervisor
- Conduct weekly cycle counts on high-risk lines and report the findings to the Distribution Centre Supervisor.
- Assist with bi-annual stock takes.
- Perform other tasks as directed by the Distribution Centre Supervisor.
- Support team members when own tasks are completed.
- Maintain a neat, tidy, and organized work area inside and outside the warehouse.
- Act professionally at all times to foster goodwill and a positive company image.
