Description:
The main purpose of this position is to manage the Business Solutions and Information Management Unit in the Financial Markets Department (FMD) by overseeing the operational support for the business systems used in FMD to ensure the completion of daily operations in the domestic money, foreign exchange, and fixed income markets.
Detailed description
• Manage and lead the Business Solutions and Information Management Unit by setting clear and achievable objectives and targets, prioritizing work, managing resource utilization and controlling costs.
• Manage the performance and support the career development of staff.
• Ensure sufficient depth of knowledge and skills and a clear succession planning strategy for the unit.
• Provide meaningful input into FMD’s strategic plan in line with the group's strategy.
• Represent FMD as a senior team member for system change projects that support the systems in FMD.
• Manage system upgrade expectations.
• Manage critical information technology (IT)-related incidents for FMD.
• Manage and monitor project timelines for support staff members.
• Provide input into, and validate and prioritize, change requests received.
• Develop and compile the unit’s operational plans and budgets in line with those of FMD and the group as well as ensure the implementation, monitoring and reporting thereof.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to the unit’s functions, ensuring compliance with relevant governance frameworks, and contribute to FMD’s risk assessments.
• Represent FMD on various internal and external committees and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
• Actively manage knowledge-sharing in the team.
Job requirements
• A minimum of Honors degree (NQF8) in Finance or IT or an equivalent qualification;
• A minimum of eight to ten years’ experience in the financial markets environment, with at least three years’ experience in a leadership/managerial role
The following will be an added advantage:
•Knowledge of trading systems such as Calypso and CBMS for domestic systems
• Knowledge of SWIFT MT and ISO 20022 standards
• Knowledge of business processes, controls for financial markets systems and financial markets instruments used in the domestic, foreign exchange and fixed income markets
• Understanding of IT infrastructure processes
