A defence company in Pretoria is seeking a mechanical design engineer. a leading developer and manufacturer of advanced armored vehicle platforms, providing innovative defense solutions to clients around the world. We're currently looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team and contribute to the next generation of high-performance military vehicles.Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and development of mechanical components and systems for armored vehicles.
- Produce detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings in compliance with engineering standards.
- Work closely with senior engineers to support prototype builds and testing.
- Participate in design reviews, DFMEA, and engineering change processes.
- Ensure manufacturability and assembly efficiency through design-for-manufacture (DFM) principles.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including structural, electrical, and production departments.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships or project experience in vehicle/mechanical design preferred).
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo.
- Basic knowledge of materials, fabrication processes, and mechanical systems.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Passion for defense technology, engineering innovation, and hands-on development.
- Familiarity with military standards or defense projects is a plus, but not required.
