Job Summary:
We are looking for a proactive and strategic HR Manager to oversee all human resources functions for our blueberry farm. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR management within the agricultural sector or similar industries, with a focus on recruitment, employee relations, training, compliance, and performance management. You will play a key role in building a motivated workforce, ensuring legal compliance, and supporting the farm’s operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and strategies aligned with the farm’s objectives. Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention of seasonal and permanent staff, including farm workers, technicians, and administrative personnel. Manage employee relations, handle conflicts, and ensure a positive and productive work environment. Administer payroll, benefits, and compensation programs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with labour laws. Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation, including the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, and Occupational Health and Safety Act. Coordinate training and development programs to enhance skills and productivity, particularly in agricultural practices and safety standards. Maintain accurate HR records, including employee files, attendance, and performance reviews. Work closely with farm management to address staffing needs, succession planning, and workforce planning. Promote a culture of safety, diversity, and inclusion on the farm. Handle disciplinary actions, grievances, and terminations in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.Key Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum of 5 years of HR management experience, preferably in agriculture, farming, or a related industry. Strong knowledge of South African labour laws and regulations.
