SENIOR LECTURERS (2)
Minimum Requirements
- Doctoral Degree or equivalent NQF level 10 qualification in Engineering, with an undergraduate qualification in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- At least 5 years of teaching/professional experience.
- Evidence of research and postgraduate supervision, with at least 3 DHET-accredited publications in the past 3 years.
- Evidence of completed postgraduate supervision of at least one MEng graduate.
- Experience in General Power Systems, High Voltage Engineering, Electrical Machines, and Engineering Design.
Additional requirements
- Good communication and lecturing skills.
- A strong passion for teaching and research.
- Professional registration with ECSA.
- Good research track record or relevant research experience, and an ability and desire to advance research development in the department.
- Eligible to start applying for the NRF rating.
- Evidence of some external funding.
- Able to lecture on subjects of Power Electronics, Electromagnetic Field Theory, Electrical Machines, Power Systems, and/ or High Voltage Engineering
Summary of Duties
- Teaching, assessing, and supervising at all relevant levels.
- Responsible for at least two modules per semester in accordance with fair workload distribution. This may include one B Eng Tech Honours level module, a semester after hours (part-time), once a week.
- Development of learning materials and subject files for different courses.
- Supervise B Eng Tech and B Eng Tech Honours projects and be actively involved in research and/or post-graduate supervision in the department.
- Assist with administrative and other duties as prescribed by the Head of Department or representative as delegated.
- To serve as chair of a specialty area on a rotational basis.
- To lead, or contribute to, curriculum design.
- To assist the department in the delivery of quality teaching and learning.

- Good track record of academic progression and/or relevant experience and desire to advance academic and technical development in the department.
