Requirements
Have appropriate professional qualifications and experience in remedial teaching / special needs (‘Sonderschullehrer’), masters or equivalent in education necessary Focus areas are ‘language’, preferable mathematics and ‘learning’ Excellent skills in communicating with children between the ages of 6 – 10 and the ability to utilise different methods of skills training Have an in-depth knowledge of individual education programmes Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and participate in multi-disciplinary team is essential Applicant must be fluent in both English AND German
Responsibilities
Remedial classes and support for Grades 1 – 4 as focus area Support for students with diagnosed special needs Write the “Nachteilsausgleich” for Grade 1 – 12 German streams in collaboration with a psychologist and inform the relevant parties Liaison with other professionals, such as teachers, language therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologists Work closely with parents and guardians Development of individual education programmes / remedial plans with / for learner, teacher and other parties Assessment of children who have long- or short-term learning difficulties and working with colleagues to identify individual learners’ special needs
