Description:
About the Role: The Field Engineer will provide field engineering services, primarily in the mining, metals, and heavy industries, at customer sites.
Key Responsibilities:
• Engineer
- Provide technical services as it relates to routine and moderately complex maintenance and/or repair of control systems and their components
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues as they relate to control systems and their components
- Communicate with engineers at customer sites on technical questions and specifications.
- Provide after-hours support in person and/or over the phone.
- Provide technical information and data to Administrative Assistant for the creation of quotations and work scopes. Information includes job repair requirements, parts for order and use, and associated cost.
- Complete necessary service, time tracking, and expense documentation.
- Maintain tools and test equipment properly.
- Communicate with account managers regarding the status of work as it applies to their customers.
- Communicate with sales personnel regarding customer questions.
- Identify and assist with repair and manufacturing training needs.
- Ensure that all completed work meets the company’s Standards and complies with company’s ISO Quality System.
- Communicate clearly, concisely, and with accuracy to employees, customers, and vendors.
• Safety:
- Observe all safety procedures and use proper safety equipment as needed.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and safe work environment at all times.
- Operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner at all times.

- Engineering related Degree – BSc Engineering, BEng, BTech or an equivalent combination of relevant education
- Instrumentation / Electrical Trade Test
- Registered as Professional Engineer with ECSA or
- Registered as Professional Engineering Technologist with ECSA is advantageous
- 5 years engineering experience as instrumentation technician, field service and/or similar industrial environment with focus on automation and advanced instrumentation systems.
- 3 years relevant management experience
- Project management experience
- Mining, metals, and/or automation industry experience preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of Allan Bradley programmable logic controllers (PLC) and fault finding
- Advanced experience in SQL systems and reporting
- Advanced experience in HMI systems
- Advanced experience in communication protocol(Modbus, Canbus, Ethernet, etc.)
- Knowledge of similar programable devices from ABB and Siemens
Required Skills
- Excellent written and communication skills

- Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Time management skills with the ability to multitask while coordinating multiple high level priorities
- Strong knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office software.

- Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and decision making related to non-routine duties.
- Ability to work independently with little direct management.
- Willing to work after hours and provide support to site
