As a Payroll Accountant, you will be responsible for the following:
- Payroll Processing: Manage and process accurate and timely payroll for all employees, ensuring compliance with South African tax laws and regulations.
- Data Management: Maintain up-to-date employee records, ensuring all payroll information is accurate and complete.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure all payroll taxes, deductions, and contributions are calculated, reported, and remitted according to local regulations.
- Reconciliation: Perform monthly payroll reconciliations, working with finance teams to ensure alignment between payroll and general ledger accounts.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit payroll reports, including tax filings and statutory compliance documentation.
- Employee Support: Act as the first point of contact for payroll-related queries from employees, addressing concerns professionally and efficiently.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of payroll processing.
Qualifications and Requirements:
A degree or qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Proven experience in payroll accounting, preferably within a corporate or professional services environment.
In-depth knowledge of South African payroll and tax laws.
Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Proficient in payroll software and Microsoft Office (Excel expertise is a must).
Excellent communication skills and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
