Are you a dynamic, results-driven Financial Manager with strong leadership skills and a passion for financial excellence? My client is seeking a confident and highly skilled finance professional to take full ownership of their financial operations, guide their finance team, and support strategic business decisions.This role is based in Rosebank, Johannesburg North.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Budgeting- Develop and present the annual financial implementation plan and budget aligned with the strategic plan; obtain MD approval.
- Monitor departmental performance monthly, analysing variances and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
- Manage additional budget requests and drive cost-efficiency across departments.
- Oversee accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions on company systems.
- Ensure system integrity by identifying and correcting errors as they occur.
- Review and action material reconciling items on general ledger accounts and approve control account reconciliations bi-monthly.
- Coordinate the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Develop, review, and enforce finance policies and internal controls to align with GAAP, IFRS, Companies Act, VAT, Income Tax Act, and SOX.
- Ensure appropriate levels of system access and segregation of duties.
- Implement and manage Risk Management, Credit Control, and Cash Flow policies, ensuring optimal insurance cover and funding availability.
- Provide weekly pricing and cost chain feedback to Sales and monthly product trading accounts.
- Manage financial reporting and service level agreements for group or associated companies.
- Oversee payments to suppliers and creditors, ensure policy compliance, and resolve complex queries effectively.
- Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of accountants, debtors, and admin staff.
- Regularly review job descriptions and performance contracts; conduct quarterly appraisals.
- Identify and address training needs, foster a high-performance culture, and manage underperformance assertively.
Key Requirements:
- Degree in Accounting.
- Completed Articles is advantageous.
- 3–5 years of experience in a Financial Manager role, leading teams of accountants, debtors, and admin staff .
- Strong knowledge of South African tax legislation and compliance frameworks.
- Proven track record of working with high-value budgets and large debtors’ books .
- Experience in financial modelling and scenario planning .
- Strong supplier negotiation skills and ability to manage third-party service providers.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Highly assertive, detail-oriented, and able to drive performance and change.
