Description:

MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION
To efficiently manage programmes from conception to transmission and ensure that stated outcomes are optimally achieved according to the specific channel mandate and in compliance with the editorial code of conduct.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Provide input into the development of organisation Sport Production Strategy in alignment with the corporate strategy
Develop and implement operational plans, business plans and budgets for production activities.
Provide strategic directions to the business unit in terms of achieving the sport production strategy.
Conceptualize programme ideas and evaluate proposals in conjunction with Programming.
Manage, give guidance and monitor Sport Production plan for the GM’s approval broadcast.
Quality control of all internally/externally produced Sport material that attracts target audiences.
Establish quality industry benchmarks.
Initiate new projects in order to produce viable products for channel target viewers.
Assist management in the identification of relevant local and international Content.
Ensure delivery of quality Sport content that attract target audiences and adhere to the editorial code of conduct and legal compliance
Ensure that the content is in-line with the National Governments curriculum, Outcomes Based education and National Development Plan where applicable.
Manage Sport Production and action all set requirements per program to ensure that stated objectives are achieved in conjunction with Marketing and sales.
Determine the success and impact of Sport programmes through regular research and feedback on ratings and audience share.
Oversee the process of programme production from inception to delivery.
Interact with and manage relations with Sporting federation, sponsors, the public, clients and project partners.
Conduct or commission research content in order to produce quality programmes for viewers and target audiences.
Assess the venue is preparation for production.
Capacitate the internal and external stakeholder about the editorial code of conduct and monitor compliance thereof.
Check the performance of the latest sport technology and make recommendation for procurement in conjunction with Media Technology Infrastructure.
Execute administrative procedures necessary for the smooth running of the business unit.
Provide monthly and quarterly reports.
Prepare, manage, and cost effectively control and implement of the Sport production budget.
Manage and monitor timeous authorisation of payments, complying with organisation policies (Independent Contractor and additional work, logistical Arrangement).
Proper utilization of the budget by monitoring & reporting expenditure.
Contract and manage performance of direct and indirect report in accordance with Organizational policy and procedures.
Direct, manage, control and develop staff.
Allocate responsibilities and scheduling for internal and external staff
Manage adequate staffing for workload and effective leadership.
Effective briefing, debriefing and communication with production staff.
Personal Development Plans (PDP) for all staff members.
Provide direction on the retention and attraction of staff inclusive of internship programmes
Individual coaching and mentoring conducted on an ongoing basis to meet performance needs.
Communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure all stakeholders participate in programme planning.
Ensure stakeholder and sponsorship commitments are met.
Interact with and assist in managing relations with internal and external stakeholders.
Handling of enquiries and complaints.
Advice platforms on programme duration

Requirements:

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Media Studies / Journalism / Broadcasting/ Post Production Degree (NQF 7)
6 years’ experience in Production of which 3 years in a Sport Production Environment on a Supervisory level
Understanding Digital / Online Broadcasting Media
Sound understanding of audience demographics
Understanding of broadcasting regulations and legislations.
Excellent command of both written and spoken language.
Advanced knowledge and understanding of Television/Radio production processes and systems.
Experience in planning, budgeting and executing special broadcast and project.
Strategic thinking and ability to improvise and innovate.
Good, “sound” knowledge of and interest in broadcast developments, trends and technologies, including the media industry.
Understanding of Financial Management and policies.
Interpersonal skills
Computer literacy
Strong teamwork and leadership capabilities
