Experienced Rock Engineer required for our client in Brits (Mining Industry) Qualifications and Experience:- Grade 12 with Numeracy and Literacy
- Rock Mechanics Certificate
- BEng Honours Degree in Mining Engineering /Geology
- SANIRE and ECSA registration.
- Member of SAIMM (South African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy).
- 10 years practical experience in Geology / Rock Mechanics or Mining.
- Minimum 2 years at management level.
- Must be computer literate
- No criminal record
- Must have a valid drivers license and own transport
- Design, approve and revise suitable mining layouts and support according to rock engineering principles.
- Budget and cost control.
- Participate in designing mine layouts and mining sequence/ ratio. Data gathering and analysis (core logging, underground mapping, and material properties).
- Revise relevant COP’s and MOP’s / SOP’s.
- Ensure accuracy of design techniques.
- Advise on pillar design and extraction sequence.
- Design, approve and revise suitable mining layouts and support according to rock engineering principles.
- Conduct routine quality control testing of support systems.
- Compilation and submission of legal reports to applicable statutory bodies.
- Continuous investigation of underground conditions toward recommending remedial action / projects to address potential risk.
- Continuously investigate the possible improvement of support systems.
- Drive improvement projects, investigate and conduct feasibility studies to keep abreast with developments within the specialist field.
- Manage and coordinate all accident / incident investigations to ensure detailed, timely completion thereof.
- Compile investigation reports and submit / present to relevant stakeholders along with detailed findings and recommendations.
- Medical Requirements
- Good general health AND requires a certificate of fitness (red ticket).
