Description:

Hire Resolve's client seeking an experienced Project Manager – Pipeline with a solid background in pipeline construction. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in managing pipeline construction projects, hold a recognized degree in the Built Environment, and possess a valid SACPCMP Construction Manager certification. This is a hands-on, site-based role requiring strong leadership, technical acumen, and sound project management capabilities.

Minimum Requirements

  • BSc or BTech in the Built Environment (Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field)

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in pipeline construction

  • SACPCMP Registered Construction Manager (mandatory)

  • Proven ability to manage large, complex infrastructure projects on-site

  • Sound understanding of construction contracts, specifications, and BOQs

  • Proficient in project scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning

Key Responsibilities

Site Management

  • Daily site inspections across all operations

  • Implementation of quality assurance measures and preparation of site quality plans

  • Ensure adherence to technical specifications and materials compliance

  • Submit monthly site reports and check sheets

  • Monitor cost efficiency and prevent material/tool wastage

  • Maintain stock control on key materials such as diesel, cement, and aggregates

  • Supervise power, water, and equipment usage

  • Approve and verify staff timesheets and overtime

Programming & Planning

  • Develop and manage Clause 14/8.3 programmes and contract working programmes

  • Prepare pre-plans, forecasts, and staff resource schedules

  • Track and report project progress on daily, weekly, and monthly bases

Resourcing

  • Assess and source labour, equipment, and materials

  • Approve requisitions and manage subcontractor and supplier agreements

  • Ensure compliance with preferential procurement and enterprise development targets

Contract & Compliance

  • Understand and interpret tender documents, conditions of contract, and BOQs

  • Draft contractual correspondence and ensure timely issue of notices

  • Monitor CPG targets and compliance

Financial Oversight

  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, and monthly cost-to-revenue analyses

  • Ensure accurate IPC submission and timely payment processing

Meetings & Reporting

  • Daily coordination with the Resident Engineer (RE)

  • Attend and contribute to all client and internal meetings

  • Chair planning, SHEQ, labour liaison, and costing meetings

  • Ensure timely submission of reporting documents (e.g., R&E board packs)

Controls & Productivity

  • Track daily costing vs. project allowables

  • Enhance productivity and programme efficiency

  • Enforce quality standards and training for employees

  • Manage subcontractor performance and project profitability

Administration

  • Implement company procedures and documentation protocols

  • Approve diaries, site instructions, drawings, and all site returns

  • Maintain an accurate company asset register and cost reconciliation

Health & Safety

  • Enforce safety compliance in accordance with the OHS Act and site-specific regulations

  • Ensure availability and correct use of PPE

  • Maintain a clean and safe site environment

  • Track and report monthly safety statistics and incidents

Leadership & Team Development

  • Set clear responsibilities and KPIs for site teams

  • Provide motivation, mentorship, and performance feedback

  • Build strong relationships with clients, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors

  • Handle HR, IR, and disciplinary processes professionally

  • Promote BEE and employment equity goals

  • Support CSI initiatives and uphold the company’s reputation
