Applications for post-doctoral fellowships should centre on one of the main research queries that can help tackle significant health issues in Sub-Saharan Africa.- In what ways can data science, machine learning, deep learning, or artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms improve personalized treatment for patients with both communicable and non-communicable diseases in Africa?
- What will be the response of critical diseases in Africa to expected climate and environmental changes, and how will this affect public health and development outcomes?
- Is it possible to determine how personal characteristics, environmental changes, and diseases are interconnected using causal modeling and structural equation modeling?
Selection Criteria
- Doctoral degree in Biostatistics, Applied Statistics, or related field obtained within the last 5 years.
Value and tenure
The fellowship is valued at R300 000 per year (non-taxable). The fellowship is valid for ONE year, but renewable for a second year based on excellent performance and availability of funds. Conditions of award
Applicant must be ready to publish a minimum of 2units in DHET-accredited journals based on the current project and present at conferences. The successful applicant will be required to be based at Alice Campus for the duration of the fellowship or as agreed by the host. Successful applicants may not hold full-time salaried employment during the fellowship. Application requirements:
