Our client, a large consulting/construction company with offices across South Africa, is looking for a Stormwater Drainage Engineer to join their growing team in Cape Town!
What you will need:
- B.Eng, B Sc Eng or B.Tech degree required, or equivalent combination of education and experience in stormwater drainage design.
- Professional registration or working towards professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa will be advantageous.
- Post-graduate qualification in Stormwater Engineering would be advantageous. B.Eng or B.Tech degree and relevant M.Eng.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in stormwater drainage design is a requirement.
- Experience in managing large stormwater designs in multidisciplinary projects is required.
- Experience in hydrological studies, stormwater master and management plans and hydraulic design of stormwater structures/systems is required.
- Experience with one or more of the design software packages: Autodesk Civil3D, Civil Designer, HEC-RAS, SWMM.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide design and technical consultation in stormwater drainage fields such as, road drainage design, stormwater drainage systems, culvert design, flood line determination, erosion protection, and water sensitive urban design. You will be responsible for investigation, preliminary and detail design stages as well as technical reports such as hydrological studies and stormwater master and management plans.
- Develop and implement discipline specific technical practices, specifications, and procedures.
- You may be responsible for the development of others through providing guidance, training, and feedback.
- You will be expected to work independently within the drainage engineering space on small and large sized projects and being a key member of larger multidisciplinary project teams. This will include investigation, design, analysis and modelling, technical documentation, cost estimates, tender submissions, and project scheduling.
- You will be responsible for engaging with clients and subconsultants during the planning and execution of projects, including meetings and presentations.
- Provide specialist technical advice to clients.
- Comply with Company procedures and processes in terms of project registration and risk analysis.
