Job Title: Ford Master TechnicianReports To: Service Manager / Shop Foreman
Position Overview:
As a Ford Master Technician, you will be responsible for performing advanced diagnostic and repair services on Ford vehicles. You will work with the latest tools, equipment, and Ford-specific diagnostic software to troubleshoot, repair, and perform maintenance on vehicles. You will also provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians and ensure that all repairs meet Ford’s standards for quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Vehicle Diagnostics & Repairs:
Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues using specialized diagnostic tools and equipment.
Perform high-level repairs and maintenance on all vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, drivetrains, electrical systems, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Address warranty concerns and service bulletins provided by Ford.
Vehicle Inspections:
Perform comprehensive vehicle inspections to identify potential safety concerns, maintenance issues, and required repairs.
Advise customers on necessary repairs and vehicle upkeep.
Technical Leadership & Mentorship:
Provide guidance and mentorship to other technicians, helping them resolve complex technical issues and ensuring they follow correct repair processes.
Help with training new employees and updating team knowledge on new Ford technologies and service procedures.
Customer Interaction:
Communicate directly with customers when needed, explaining technical issues, repair solutions, and expected outcomes in layman’s terms.
Work closely with the service advisors to ensure timely and effective communication with customers regarding their vehicle service status.
Maintaining Documentation:
Ensure that all service records and repair documentation are up-to-date and completed accurately, following Ford’s warranty guidelines and industry regulations.
Keep detailed notes of any vehicle service, repairs, or modifications for future reference.
Compliance with Standards:
Follow all safety protocols and procedures in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and Ford’s guidelines.
Maintain up-to-date certifications and training for the latest Ford technologies, tools, and equipment.
Continual Education:
Participate in ongoing Ford training programs and certifications to stay current with new models, technologies, and repair techniques.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent (required).
Ford Master Technician certification or equivalent certification from a recognized industry body (ASE, etc.).
5+ years of experience as an automotive technician, with a focus on Ford vehicles.
Completion of advanced Ford training programs (including Ford-specific diagnostic systems).
Skills & Abilities:
Strong diagnostic skills and ability to troubleshoot complex vehicle issues.
Advanced knowledge of automotive systems, including electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems.
Ability to use diagnostic tools and Ford-specific software (e.g., Ford IDS, FDRS).
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues.
Working Conditions:
This position typically involves working in a dealership or service center environment.
It requires the ability to lift heavy parts, stand for long periods, and work with various tools and equipment.
Work hours may vary, including weekends and extended hours, depending on customer needs and service volume.
