Description:

Our client in Wellington is seeking a GCC Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will be a graduate engineer with a degree in Mechanical or Electrotechnical engineering, and have successfully passed the examination on the Act and regulations as per the Commission of Examiners. Alternatively, candidates with a Certificate of Competency in mechanical or electrotechnical engineering issued before 01 January 1966 will also be considered. A minimum of 2-4 years of experience, strong planning and reporting skills, excellent communication abilities, and a highly motivated, self-starting attitude are essential. REQUIREMENTS:
  • Graduate engineer (Degree in Mechanical or Electrotechnical engineering) who has passed the examination on the Act and the regulations made thereunder held by the Commission of Examiners in terms of Regulations E5 (2) of the regulations published under Government Notice R929 of 28 June 1963 or
  • Certified Engineer (Certificate of competency in mechanical or electrotechnical engineering issued before 01 January 1966)
  • Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience
  • Planning and reporting skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Highly motivated and self-starter
  • Team Player
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Own transport
  • Willing to travel

DUTIES:
  • This position will be the responsible General Machinery Regulation 2.1 appointment as per Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993
  • Managing GMR 2.7a appointees to ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements
  • Ensure occupational health and safety
  • Conduct Risk assessments and implement control determinations
  • Ensuring all machinery complies with Occupational Health and Safety Act and it’s regulations
  • Maintaining records: Keeping and maintaining statutory machinery records
  • Risk management of service providers and contractors.
  • Conduct incident investigation and implement preventative measures
  • Leading safety committee
  • Manage site specific projects
  • Involvement with planned and preventative maintenance systems and optimize plant, vehicle and equipment
  • Involvement with procurement of machinery and design
  • Implement equipment upgrades and enhancements
  • Manage training of Machine operators
  • Involvement of Job Observations and Competency assessment
