As a multifaceted organization, this company is seeking a skilled tax expert to lead and enhance its tax function. As a holding entity, it oversees businesses spanning imports and exports, manufacturing, retail, restaurants, and real estate. This opportunity is located in the Mossel Bay areas and would consider individuals who are looking to relocate.
Key Responsibilities
- Tax Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with South African Revenue Service (SARS) tax regulations, including VAT, PAYE, corporate tax, customs duties, and other statutory obligations.
- Cross-Border Tax Management: Handle taxation matters related to international transactions, including transfer pricing, withholding tax, and double taxation agreements.
- Tax Planning & Strategy: Develop tax-efficient structures to optimize the company’s tax position while remaining compliant with tax laws.
- Audit & Risk Management: Liaise with SARS, manage tax audits, and address any tax-related inquiries or disputes.
- Legislative Updates: Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, ensuring the business remains compliant and adapts accordingly.
- Liaison & Advisory: Provide tax-related guidance to internal stakeholders, including finance, legal, and operations teams.
- Process Improvement: Implement tax-efficient policies and procedures to enhance compliance and operational efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional tax qualification (e.g., SAIT, CIMA, CA(SA), or similar) is advantageous.
- Minimum of 3-6 years of experience in corporate tax, preferably with exposure to multiple industries.
- Strong knowledge of South African tax laws and experience with cross-border taxation.
- Familiarity with SARS e-filing, customs regulations, and international tax treaties.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple business tax structures effectively.
